Dwight's reflections

Looking back on your 70 years of life, what's a personal achievement or moment that you're particularly proud of?

A personal achievement that I’m most proud of is the decision I made to return to college after a three-year absence. After completing my first year, I decided to go back and finish my degree, which led to the crowning moment when my dream came true as I walked across the stage and received my diploma.

Another proud moment was the birth of my son, Marcus, followed by the immense pride I felt at the birth of his son, my grandson David. The Williams lineage continues strong. I was also deeply honored when my youngest son, Marcus, asked me to be his Best Man at his wedding.

Could you tell us about your individual creative passions and how they've played a role in shaping your life?

As a child, I had an inquisitive nature and a desire to understand how things worked. I was always exploring, taking things apart, putting them back together, or trying to fix something that was broken. I enjoyed a challenge, and this curiosity played a major role in my decision to pursue a college degree in engineering.

Share with us how your faith and your involvement in the Church have influenced your personal growth, relationships, and values.

A pivotal moment in my life came during my senior year of college when I accepted salvation in Christ. This event profoundly changed my outlook on life and set me on a new path. As I matured in my faith, I realized God was guiding my steps. By acknowledging Him in all things, I trusted He would direct my life. Following Christ has taken me places I could never have imagined and introduced me to people I otherwise would never have encountered.

As you approach this significant milestone, what are your personal hopes and aspirations for the years ahead?

My personal hope is that my faith and trust in God will remain steadfast, and that I will be able to accept whatever He allows, knowing He will not place more on me than I can bear.
